The Cabeza de Vaca Road is more than just a way to get to Playa La Saladita—it’s a lifeline for our community. After each rainy season, local homeowners, the comisario, and the mayor of La Unión work alongside the ejido and government to repair and maintain this vital dirt road.
This effort is powered by:
Despite these efforts, speeding—often by visitors or heavy trucks—quickly damages the road’s fragile dirt surface. Without local law enforcement, we ask everyone to drive respectfully and help protect this community connection.
This project reflects the heart of Saladita: neighbors and authorities coming together to solve challenges. By driving responsibly, you’re helping sustain our road for locals and visitors alike.
The Playa Limpia Project began with a group of concerned neighbors who saw the urgent need to protect the local environment—especially the river that flows into the ocean and shapes Saladita’s iconic wave.
Their efforts focus on real, on-the-ground solutions: improving septic systems, addressing water treatment issues, and reducing pollution to help keep the river clean. These actions directly impact the health of the wave and the surrounding ecosystem.
More than just a cleanup effort, Playa Limpia promotes community awareness and involvement—inviting everyone to take part in protecting the natural beauty that makes Saladita so special.
The NUUCH Composting & Organic Gardens program is a powerful initiative started by Dario, a young entrepreneur with a vision to turn organic waste into something beautiful—healthy soil. In Saladita, where the natural environment is at the heart of everything, reducing waste and giving back to the earth is essential.
The NUUCH Composting Program is making a significant impact by reducing organic waste in the community and enriching the local environment. It’s a simple yet effective way to help create a cleaner, greener Saladita while supporting the growth of local gardens and food initiatives.
